One week following the release of Project Veritas’s undercover investigation into the Yonkers teachers union, News 12 reported that Brendan McGrath, the Yonkers Inspector General launched an investigation into the Yonkers Federation of Teachers.
In a report addressed to Mayor Mike Spano which was released July 11, 2016, the IG recommended the immediate termination of Yonkers Federation of Teachers President Patricia Puleo and Executive Vice President Paul Diamond.
The Inspector General conducted a thorough investigation of the union officials caught on camera, along with Project Veritas’ raw footage.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano also said Puleo and Diamond should be fired, be he isn’t sure he can do it. “We’ll go back to the state education commissioner who will make the determination as to what a tenured, or what the penalty is for a tenured teacher. And again, that really bothers me”, said Spano.
A spokesperson from the State Teachers Association said the report was hastily produced during contract negotiations and that it severed to repeat lies and distort facts.
