Introducing Project Veritas' New CEO, Hannah Giles

From the headquarters of Project Veritas, Hannah Giles was announced as the CEO of the non-profit investigative journalism organization.  Founded in 2010, the news organization uses research and undercover cameras to investigate and expose corruption, dishonesty, self-dealing, waste, fraud, and other misconduct in both public and private institutions to achieve a more ethical and transparent society.

Giles stated, “America needs a free press, not corporate media, that regurgitates talking points from the powers that be.  Courage and independence define Project Veritas.  As the country’s most important investigative news organization, we will pursue our mission to shine light on the darkest corners of power in America.”

 At the age of 19, Giles conceived and developed the idea for the 2009 ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) undercover camera investigation which she executed with fellow investigative journalist, James O’Keefe. Giles posed as a prostitute, visiting multiple ACORN locations across the country, exposing the organization’s willingness to facilitate underage brothels, child sex-trafficking, and tax evasion. As a result of this landmark investigation, ACORN was federally defunded and disbanded. This reporting caught the attention of legendary journalist, Andrew Breitbart, who became a friend and mentor to Giles.  

 On the heels of this story, Project Veritas was founded by O’Keefe and headquartered in Mamaroneck, New York. O’Keefe describes Hannah Giles as a “national treasure” in his book, Breakthrough. Giles was featured in the Sundance and Tribeca 2017 documentary “ACORN in the Firestorm.”  

 After the ACORN investigation, Giles pursued a career as a business leader and founded the American Phoenix Foundation to train hundreds of young journalists in investigative journalism. She also launched a community transformation consulting firm, C3Strategies, which grew to over 450 employees.   

 Giles is a wife and home-schooling mother of three children.  Along with her husband, Joe Basel, she built a sustainable farm.  She holds a black belt in Valente Brothers Jujutsu, and enjoys painting, drawing, raising packs of Livestock Guardian Dogs and training with her personal protection K9s. 

 After O’ Keefe walked away from Project Veritas in February 2023, “Many people reached out to me to continue the Project Veritas mission,” said Giles.  

On her new role as CEO, Giles said, “I am honored to lead the most creative team of journalists in the United States. The mission continues at Project Veritas, and we will expose corruption like never before.”
